Zodiac signs reading is one of the most ancient practices prevalent in the world. It has been a part of human life since the 1600’s. It is one of those few traditional practices that has survived the forces of modernity, or rather has become more popular and accessible due to modern technological developments. The ancient practice of Zodiac horoscope reading is something that everyone is aware of and practices without any reservations about it reliability and validity.
In ancient days people used the sun, moon and other celestial bodies to determine the seasons. It was also used by many nomadic tribes, as they wandered around places, in search of food and shelter. Later this art was developed and used sophistically in the science of navigation. The origin of Zodiac horoscopes can be traced back to the Greeks who believed that the position of celestial bodies at the time of one’s birth have a strong impact on one’s destiny. In around 1600’s a man by the name William Lilly made the practice more popular among the Christians by calling it the “Christian Astrology”. With the passage of time the practice was more streamlined with the invention of the twelve different Zodiac Signs based on the twelve different parts the year was divided into, each part named after some constellations present in the sky. Thus a person born on the certain date and time of the month would be allocated a zodiac sign, which would be the primary tool for determining his/her destiny, characters, fate etc.
Even though the practice of horoscope reading, astrology and zodiac signs has been going on for thousands of years, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact origin of this practice as we have no documented proof of it. Some historical findings suggest that this art of Zodiac Horoscope reading began in ancient parts of Egypt and Babylonia while other research suggests that the origin of this ancient art lies in India and China. Nevertheless it can be said that the practice was an integral part of these civilisations and it played a major part in the spreading of this practice all over the world. Since then this ancient practice has been carried forward from generations to generations either in the written form of books and manuscripts or orally. As it moved to other culture and places it was adapted and altered to some extent to suit the needs of the local people. It was also quite popular in the ancient Roman Empire, but was mostly limited to the kings and the royalty.
From history to present day, astrology has come a long way and today millions of people around the world follow Zodiac horoscope on a regular basis. Rarely we find someone who would not be familiar with their zodiac sign and their characteristics. Not only their individual zodiac horoscope but people also keep a tab of the horoscopes of their closed ones, like family and friends.
